On Friday afternoon, registration kicked off followed by the annual ladies group photo with bikes at Fontana Dam. After a short curvy ride back to Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort, the Sportbike Night sponsored by PJ’s Parts got started. Dinner featured a brief ladies only gathering which provided a great opportunity to meet new people while also awarding the second annual “One Lucky Guy Award.” A tie in the voting saw the award be given to two amazing supporters of women riders. Jay Habshey of Tennessee and Aaron Hopkins of Illinois. The ladies who nominated them gave a great speech as to why they deserved to be the Lucky Guys of the rally.

After dinner, the sportbike challenges returned closing out the exciting start to the rally.

fridayphotoSaturday morning kicked off with the traditional ladies group photo at the Deal’s Gap sign (a yearly tradition, rain or shine).  Thankfully, the rain held off until just after the photo was taken. Then the skies opened up. Some scurried to find cover while others jumped on their bikes in search of dry roads. The rain eventually let up for everyone and the day of riding was salvaged.

To conclude the rally Saturday evening, we returned to Fontana Village Resort 20140906_093308pool side to feature the Sportbikegirl Pit Party sponsored by NPR Ducati. We had several speakers at this year’s event that gave some great presentations including Brittany Morrow of San Diego, California giving us a very informative lesson on CE armor and what to look for in our gear selections followed by Amanda McCoy and Margie Lee talking about their epic cross country trip from the east coast to the west and back which also featured an Iron Butt leg. The ladies that attend this rally are simply amazing!

Last but not least, every lady received a door prize adding a little bonus to their trip. Door prizes would not be possible if we didn’t have such amazing sponsors! Check them out HERE! After dinner and door prizes, some ladies headed back to Deal’s Gap for some “fiddy” racing featuring several of our lady riders and their significant others.

This year’s Super Rider Award went to long-time rally attendees Cheryl Leipold and her riding partner, Bob Steiger.  They rode from south of Atlanta to Deals Gap by way of Blue Hill, Maine. Last we heard they clocked a total of over 4,000 miles total for the trip. Just awesome!

A HUGE thank you goes out to all who attended and everyone who helped make this happen! There are simply too many of you to call out individually! Everything from the word-of-mouth advertising you provide to the hauling of boxed, filling goodie bags or just being on hand for any help needed.  Thank you to our photographer, Daniel Vessell and his helper, David Clay, for being behind the lens so that the ladies could be involved in the rally. Also, big thanks to David Clay and John Turner for following and photographing the ladies on their rafting trip.  Last but not least, thank you to all of our great sponsors. Mark your calendars for September 11-13, 2015 for our tenth annual event. Look for more details soon.  See you on the Dragon next year.
